OROVILLE, Calif. — Chico police officer Travis Johnsen was honored at a luncheon Thursday for having the highest total of drunk driving arrests locally in the past year.
Johnsen arrested 125 allegedly impaired drivers, and it was the third year in a row he has captured the top award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
In total, 28 officers from departments in Butte and Glenn counties were honored for having a significant number of arrests, and removing dangerous drivers from the road.
The luncheon at Feather Falls Casino was hosted by the California Office of Traffic Safety and MADD.
The honorees and number of arrests are:

California Highway Patrol, Oroville Seth Horst, 53; Caleb Stewart, 45; Geoffrey Dey, 31; Sam Connell, 29; Jeremy Andes, 28; Dave Friese, 25.
Oroville Police Department Jared Cooley, 28; Ray Stott, 18.
Paradise Police Department Patrick Feaster, 31; Robert Wright, 27.
California Highway Patrol, Willows Jesse Rawlins, 18 ; Daniel Gallagher, 17; James Gilliam, 17.
Orland Police Department Sean Johnson, 22; Charles Barnes, 19.
Willows Police Department Darrin Brown, 12 ; Kelly Trent, 9.
Glenn County sheriff’s deputies Cale Smith and Heath Rasmussen were recognized for having a high number of turnovers to the CHP, which means they made the initial stop on suspected drunk drivers.
Smith had 11, as did Rasmussen.
Smith also made three DUI arrests on his own.
