BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Despite orders in New York prohibiting parties and large, non-essential gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic, the NYPD on Saturday busted a massive party thrown at a barbershop in Brooklyn.

The party on Avenue L in Brooklyn’s Canarsie neighborhood drew more than 60 people, prompting two arrests and at least 60 summons, WNBC is reporting.

Reports indicate the gathering was tied to gambling, and attendees could face substantial fines related to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s “New York State on Pause” order.

New York City is one of the global epicenters of the coronavirus with 20 percent of all U.S. cases, according to reports.
