In our ground programs, we reinforce the importance of maintaining the ability to control your subject, access your force options and/or the position of advantage. This tactical tip will show various empty-hand striking tactics you can deploy from the ground — in both the ground guard (officer on his back) and front mount position (officer positioned between the subject’s legs). Target selection is usually based on target availability. The officer can strike for different reasons, from over-powering the subject to distracting him, allowing the officer to regain the position of advantage.
