CHICAGO, Ill. — A man shouting obscenities at customers of a Northwest Side convenience store and threatening to jump from a ledge above a parking lot early Sunday was tasered by police to prevent the him from leaping.
Police responded about 2:50 a.m. to find a man on a roof ledge on the 7500 block of W. Irving Park Rd. above the parking lot of a 7-11 yelling obscenities to customers trying to enter the store and threatening to jump, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
The 54-year-old man refused to come off the ledge and was tasered in an attempt to prevent him from jumping from the ledge, Kubiak said.
The man’s brother was on the scene and told police that his brother suffered from mental problems.
He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment and mental evaluation, Kubiak said.
