EULESS, Texas — Bystander video captured the gun battle that ended in the death of a Euless officer and the suspect, New York Daily News reported.
Officer David Hofer, 29, was responding to reports of gunfire Tuesday when the suspect opened fire, Chief Mike Brown told the news site.
In the video, officers are seen swarming the park and telling the suspect to drop to the ground.
Hofer died in surgery at a hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead at another hospital.
Hofer worked for the NYPD since 2009 before transferring to Euless in January 2014. He was engaged to be wed. He is survived by his fiancee, parents and siblings.
