No jail for 2 who aided Ohio cop killer

By Police1 Staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Judge Dan Gaul said it was a “tough call” but the law precluded him from sending to prison two women who helped Ashford Thompson after he murdered Twinsburg Police Officer Joshua Miktarian in July 2008.

According to a report from WOIO-TV, Thompson killed officer Miktarian during a traffic stop imitated because of loud music from the subject’s car.

Danielle Roberson and Bridget Robinson — Thompson’s girlfriend and sister, respectively — attempted to conceal Thompson’s whereabouts following the murder.

In January, Robinson and Roberson both pleaded guilty to one count each of attempted obstructing justice.

With Judge Gaul’s ruling, they will both get probation.

Thompson was sentenced to death for the murder, and is currently on death row.
