LOS ANGELES — On Friday, the LAPD released dramatic bodycam footage of an October hostage incident that left the suspect dead. Video shows a SWAT team storming the apartment, rescuing the victim and shooting her suspected captor.
According to ABC 7, several shots were fired during the incident. The suspect, 45-year-old Rudy Anderson, was killed.
The harrowing scene was also captured on cellphone video by numerous residents in an adjacent high-rise apartment building. That video showed Anderson holding a gun to a woman’s head.
Police said Anderson had previously gone on a crime spree, shooting at a family and grazing a 14-year-old’s head. Anderson also tried to carjack a woman and steal someone else’s bicycle, according to the report. The hostage victim was not injured.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
