SANTAQUIN, Utah — An employee at a Utah restaurant has been fired following an anti-police comment he posted on Facebook.

Fox 13 reports Shawn Peterson, a cook at Leslie’s Family Tree in Santaquin, posted an image on Facebook from his personal account depicting a dead police officer with the caption, “This is what a good cop looks like.”

The post immediately inspired outrage from users across the state, and was shared to the restaurant’s own Facebook page.

Users then demanded restaurant owner Leslie Broadhead to fire Peterson, according to the report.

“It’s just been overwhelming,” Broadhead told Fox 13. “I keep thinking, ‘How did I get tied up in the middle of something that I had nothing to do with?’”

Peterson then requested to be fired, and he was terminated Tuesday.

The restaurant is offering free meals to law enforcement for the entire week as an apology for the incident and as an expression of gratitude for their service.

Peterson told Fox 13 the decision to post the image “was a mistake.”
