A SWAT team was called to the scene of a Minnesota house fire where an armed individual has barricaded themselves in a trailer near where firefighters were battling the blaze.

The armed man who barricaded himself in a trailer near a burning home has died by suicide.

The man shot himself at the property in the 300 block of Andover Boulevard. According to court records, deputies were called to the same property in mid-February, when the owner allegedly fired several gunshots and made threats to shoot law enforcement, reports the Star Tribune.

ANDOVER, Minn. — A SWAT team has been called to the scene of a Minnesota house fire and has surrounded an armed, barricaded individual near where firefighters were battling the blaze.

Officials said fire personnel “were pulled back for safety” during what Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Andy Knotz calls “a volatile situation,” according to the Star Tribune.

Knotz said the person is “armed and threatening from inside a trailer on the property” where the house fire is burning in Andover.

Firefighters and apparatus from several departments, as well as ambulances, are standing by during the standoff.
