Local cop news with Capt. Mike Williams: 01.05.06 report

Special note:

I received the following request from Chief Kim Wallace with the Dove (NJ) PD. I wanted to be sure all officers saw this and had an opportunity to support this police officer’s young child by sending an agency patch, pin or pen if you felt compelled to do so:

Mike,

I have a request that I hope you can assist me with. There is an officer in our area whose 5-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer (Neuroblastoma) right before Christmas. They did surgery after Christmas and have started chemo. He is in stage 4 and it has spread to his bones.

Since he has been in the hospital he has gotten a lot of e-mails which have cheered him up and help to keep his parents busy also, but when he goes home he does not have a computer so I was hoping that officers would mail him a patch or pen from their departments to help lift his spirits while he is at home. The doctors have said that he cannot go back to school.

He is very proud that his dad is a police officer so I was hoping you could send this email out to other officers for me and ask them to please take time out of their busy schedules and send him a patch or pin but also please say a prayer for him.

There is a website set up at www.caringbridge.org. When you visit, type in the blank site search field as one word: austinbickford.

This is the website that his dad is trying to maintain. It is helping his dad and Austin keep their spirits up and keep busy.

I really appreciate it Mike I know it will be good for Austin and his Dad.

Austin’s email address is: prayforaustin@yahoo.com.

His address is:

Austin Bickford
