Texas SWAT hunt for suspect in shooting that never occurred

Corpus Christi Caller-Times

Police in Texas shut down a residential street Friday while SWAT Team members looked for a shooting that never occurred.

Officers were called about 2 p.m. by a woman who reported her son called her saying he had shot and killed someone in a garage. She didn’t know where he was and police went to several locations at one point, prompting Calallen Middle School to be put on lockdown briefly as officers searched the area.

The man was tracked to a garage in the 5000 block of Brandesky Drive, where officers blocked both ends of the street as a hostage negotiator talked to the man on his cellphone.

About 3:45 p.m. officers emerged with a 24-yearold man in handcuffs and placed him in a squad car. A police spokesman said no body or weapon was found inside.

Officers did find a small amount of marijuana and the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana, police said.
