CHICAGO — A homeless man was arrested for the 102nd time Tuesday after allegedly accosting and taking $60 from the hands of a 71-year-old man in the Uptown neighborhood, police said.
The victim was holding $60 in his hand when Michael Woods, 52, and another man allegedly began following him - eventually robbing him, according to Lincoln District police Sgt. Patrick Barker. The victim was not hurt.
Woods’ accomplice ran away, but two witnesses struggled with Woods. During the fight, Woods allegedly hit one of the men, but the two witnesses overpowered him and held him until police arrived, according to Barker.
Woods, who has been living at a shelter, was charged with a felony count of robbery of a victim who is handicapped or over 60 years old, battery, and resisting a police officer, according to police News Affairs.
