PERTH, Australia — One police dog in Australia made some flippered friends during a chance encounter Wednesday.
K-9 Mako and the dog’s handler were walking along the Swan River, which empties into the Indian Ocean, when they came across a pair of curious dolphins.
The Western Australia Police Force posted a video of the cross-species meeting on Facebook.
Mako peers over the edge of the riverbank and pulls at the leash, trying to get a closer look. The dolphins seem equally interested as they swim back and forth alongside Mako.
It certainly looks like Mako would have jumped in for a swim if the dog hadn’t been restrained.
