BILLINGS, Mont. — TV crews spent about a year filming Montana law enforcement officers for the National Geographic Channel television show “Frontier Force.”

A recent episode showed Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Paris responding to a disturbance at an area gas station. Crews also spent time with the Billings, Missoula, Miles City and Darby police departments, and with county sheriff’s offices from Custer to Roosevelt counties.

Producer Abby Lautt says her goal is to provide a deeper understanding of what law enforcement officers do in out-of-the-way places.

Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Capt. Bill Michaelis says deputies were initially skeptical, but warmed after seeing the way Alaskan officers were portrayed on a similar show on the channel.
