GALLOWAY, N.J. — A restaurant owner has apologized on social media and fired an employee after the worker left a disrespectful message on a cop’s receipt.

The receipt, posted on Twitter Sunday, shows the message: “Cops, pigs, puercos.” Puercos is Spanish for pigs.

The owner of Romanelli’s Garden Cafe, Drew Huggard, wrote on Facebook that the “gross and disrespectful” message was not a reflection of the company’s views and the employee involved was fired.

“We support our local police department and all forms of law enforcement,” Huggard wrote. “I have grown up in this town and I have always relied on the local police dept. to keep myself and my family and friends safe. I would appreciate it you could understand our frustrating situation. We would like to just let let everyone know we do not condone this type of behavior here.”
