SEATTLE — A Seattle police officer was injured early this morning when his marked patrol car struck a power pole, three parked cars and a tree on Rainier Avenue South.
The officer, whose name was not immediately released, somehow lost control of the southbound patrol car around 1:20 a.m. while approaching South Garden Street, Detective Mark Jamieson reported.
The power pole snapped and the police car struck the parked cars before coming to rest against the tree.
The officer was taken to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that were described as serious but not life-threatening.
Detectives in the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are trying to reconstruct the circumstances that led to the crash, Jamieson reported.
