PHOENIX — A Phoenix police officer is in serious condition after being shot multiple times during a traffic stop, ABC 15 reported.
The traffic stop occurred early Wednesday morning. Authorities are not certain if the shooting was an ambush.
The officer is reportedly expected to survive, which Phoenix Police Sgt. Jonathan Howard attributes to the body armor the officer was wearing during the incident.
Authorities have found a vehicle belonging to one of the suspects, but are still searching for the perpetrators.
One suspect has been described as a heavyset white man armed with a rifle. He is suspected to have had a passenger with him during the incident.
