INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police say an officer is in good condition after being shot while helping serve a search warrant.
Police said the officer was shot in the forearm about 2 p.m. Wednesday and was hospitalized in good condition.
A suspect who allegedly fired multiple shots at officers was also hospitalized after being critically wounded when officers returned gunfire. The shooting came as officers were serving an arrest warrant near the Fountain Square neighborhood on Indianapolis’ east side.
Police spokesman Sgt. Christopher Wilburn tells The Indianapolis Star that the home where the warrant was being served is believed to be connected to narcotics dealing and there were multiple people inside at the time of the shooting.
Wilburn says the shooting “was the result of a bad actor pretending to be a hero.”
