RALEIGH, N.C. — A sheriff’s deputy in North Carolina has been hurt while trying to serve a warrant at a home northeast of Raleigh.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison told local news outlets that a SWAT team and other deputies went to serve a warrant around 3 a.m. Tuesday after a shooting Monday afternoon.

Deputies say when they approached the mobile home, someone started shooting.

Harrison said one of the deputies suffered superficial wounds to his arm, possibly from shrapnel. The deputy was taken to a hospital but was expected to recover.

Two people in the home have been taken into custody for question.

The names and races of those involved weren’t immediately available.

A sheriff’s spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for more information Tuesday morning.
