SMITH COUNTY, Texas — The Smith County Sheriff’s Office released dashcam footage of a high-speed pursuit in which suspects attempted to kill a deputy, News West 9 reported.

Sheriff Larry Smith told the news site two different guns were used to fire at the deputy, and the officer had no time to return fire. The pursuit stemmed from a drug investigation, according to the report.

“God was the co-pilot obviously. You can see where the one bullet came in [the cruiser] and stopped just short of shooting the deputy in the torso or the chest,” Smith said.

Smith said they will go after anyone involved in the crime.

“Due to the attempt to kill one of the deputies, we’re going to use every law in the book,” Smith said. “Do whatever we need to do, uncover every rock we need to uncover to get everyone involved in it.”

One of the three suspects in the vehicle, identified as Jeremy Robinson, was located and arrested. He bond was set at $2,000,000. Police are searching for the other suspects involved in the pursuit.
