PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — An officer lost his eye after a DUI suspect allegedly kicked him during her arrest.
Yesennia Gonzalez, 28, was pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence Saturday night, KPHO reported.
As officers put Gonzalez in the back of the patrol car, she became aggressive and kicked at police. She hit Sgt. Mark Bustamante with the high-heel of her boot in his left eye, police said.
Bustamante was transported to a local hospital where they performed surgery. They could not save his eye.
Gonzalez faces two counts of aggravated assault on an officer, one count of resisting arrest and one count of DUI.
