SYRACUSE, NY - Tucked in among the multi-million-dollar television commercials during this year’s Super Bowl was a pitch to join the Syracuse Police Department.
The television recruiting ad, with original music, cost $3,500 to make, the department said. It cost an additional $6,500 to air on Fox68 during the Super Bowl.
The local audience for the Feb. 6 broadcast, the Syracuse police believe, was 300,000 to 450,000 viewers. Fox Broadcasting Co. declined to release local viewership numbers. The commercial was produced by The Axcess Group with a local contract originating with WSTM television in Syracuse, the police department states.
