PORT ARANSAS, Texas — Officials said hundreds of spring breakers rushed police after officers attempted to detain two men who were fighting.
KIII News reported that two men who were fighting on the beach resisted officers and fled toward sand dunes. Officers pursued them, and hundreds of other people rushed toward the dunes as well.
Police said the crowd was a threat to safety and told them to back up. The crowd did not listen and officers used pepper spray to disperse the people, the news station reported. Another fight broke out.
Officials said the situation was under control in nearly eight minutes and the suspects were detained.
