PALM COAST, Fla. — Body camera captured an officer’s takedown of a violent pit bull attacking a family.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the deputy arrived at the residence Tuesday after the dog had bit 36-year-old Georgia Rose and 62-year-old Thelma Rose.
The dog began attacking after it reportedly “chewed its way through the door” of a bathroom.
Deputy Trevor Jacob was attempting to escort Thelma, who had locked herself in a bathroom with Georgia’s baby out of fear of the animal, when the dog attacked a third time.
My News 13 reported the third victim, 71-year-old Lloyd Rose, was attempting to restrain the dog when it bit his arm. Deputy Jacob then deployed his TASER on the animal.
Jacob TASERed the dog a second time as it began to chase after Lloyd, who was attempting to get to safety.
Animal control secured the dog as paramedics came to the scene to treat the wounded. The dog was later euthanized at a humane society.
The family surrendered two additional dogs, according to the report. The humane society is currently determining what to do with the animals.
