HOUSTON — A woman who was fleeing from police called a local news station claiming she didn’t want to go back to jail because they mistreated her.
Police attempted to pull over Jessica Latrese Chatman, 37, Friday because they could not see her rear license plate, ABC 13 reported.
Chatman told the news station that she was afraid to go to back to Montgomery County Jail because “they tried to kill me there.”

Multiple agencies joined in as Chatman reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour during the 40-minute pursuit.
ABC 13’s managing editor Julie Griffin was receiving assistance on another line from law enforcement while she spoke with Chatman and attempted to get her to pull over.
“She called and she said, ‘I’m the woman that police are chasing, your chopper is over me. I’m not going to stop. They tried to kill me in Montgomery County,’” Griffin said. “I tried to explain to her that she needed to pull over so she didn’t hurt anyone else on the road.”
The pursuit ended when Chatman pulled into a parking lot and surrendered peacefully.
No one was injured during the pursuit.
