NEKOOSA, Wis. — A woman dragged an officer with her car while attempting to evade arrest.
According to Wisconsin Rapids City Times, an officer tried to arrest Mariah Czappa, 18, on a felony warrant charge Sunday.
A man can be seen in dash cam footage exiting the vehicle as the officer approaches. Czappa fled and dragged the officer 10 to 15 feet before striking a fire hydrant.
The officer escaped with a minor hand laceration. After Czappa hit the hydrant, she continued to flee and reached speeds up to 100 mph before spinning out into a ditch, ending the pursuit.
“Miss Czappa had no regard for the life of the officer, other motorists or her own. All involved are so fortunate that this ended safely,” Police Chief Shawn Woods told WSAW.
Czappa faces felony charges of fleeing an officer, first degree reckless endangering safety, felony and misdemeanor bail jumping, possession of methamphetamine and operating while under the influence of an intoxicant.
