GREENWOOD, Ind. — A suspect was TASERed after he climbed on top of the stolen car he crashed during a police pursuit.
Witnesses said Jameson McCarthy walked into a tobacco store Thursday with a gun and demanded money, The Indy Channel reported. He injured a store employee before taking money from the cash register and stealing a minivan. The employee was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
McCarthy, 26, led police on a pursuit through multiple front yards. He struck several parked cars and almost hit a house and a pedestrian before crashing into a pickup truck at an intersection, the news station reported. The truck driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
McCarthy is seen in cellphone video climbing on top of the minivan and yelling at police. Officers deployed a TASER and took him into custody.
He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and released to police. Police said McCarthy had a warrant out for his arrest. He faces charges of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, robbery taking property by force or threatening to use force, criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and resisting law enforcement.
