I am a Deputy Constable with Travis County (Austin, Texas). I thought I would share a vehicle that officers may not even consider. I know I didn’t until I bought one. The 2005 Honda Odyssey.
It looks like a typical family vehicle. I keep my Llama 380 in the ashtray. It fits great, located in the center of the dash just under the cup holders for great concealment and easy access. How about the cool looking GPS system on the dash! push the button on the right side and the screen drops down for your CD player with plenty of room for another pistol. Another place to accommodate larger weapons equipped with a lazy Susan for your choice of what you may want to use that day is between the drivers seat. This area was originally designed for a spare tire and has a large opening and a small opening that you can access quickly for additional fire power.
Access to backseat compartment from front passenger position
Who would think a family vehicle could be so dangerous?
I love the van but because I am aware of the “danger zones” I use extreme caution when I stop one in traffic.
Thanks for your article on this.
Deputy Henry Gudenau
Travis County Constable Pct 2.
