Vancouver, Wash. — A Vancouver police officer rolled his patrol car while pursuing a driver early Monday morning in the Meadow Homes neighborhood.
According to information provided by the Vancouver Police Department, a car driven by Ray Schneider, 22, of Vancouver sped past Officer David Brown at 1:22 a.m., as the officer sat in his marked police car.
Brown tried to pull Schneider over, but the driver would not stop, according to a police statement. As Brown entered a construction area, he lost control of his vehicle, flipping it onto its roof near Northeast 63rd Street and Meadow Homes Drive. He was treated and later released from Southwest Washington Medical Center.
Minutes later, Schneider crashed the car he was driving, a 1996 Honda Accord. He ran from the wreck, as did his passenger, Teri Zinda, 26, of Vancouver, the police statement said.
Officer Roger Evans and his K9 partner, Dakota, tracked the suspects. Schneider fought with Dakota and sustained minor injuries.
Both suspects were treated at Southwest Washington Medical Center and then arrested.
Zinda had outstanding warrants from the Department of Corrections and Clark County District Court. Schneider was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude a police officer, possession of stolen property and outstanding warrants. Both remain in the Clark County Jail .
