AUSTIN, Texas — Vaccines are coming sooner than expected to the Austin Police Department, agency officials told KVUE.

According to KXAN, Austin police officers were scheduled to get their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in January. But now, along with firefighters and medics, police can start as early as Monday.

The vaccine is being distributed by the Austin Public Safety Wellness Center, which is listed as having received 1,300 of the Moderna vaccine, reports KXAN.

All agency employees are eligible to sign up for the vaccination, according to KVUE.
