CAMERON, Texas — Sergeant Joshua Clouse with the Cameron Police Department was shot and killed May 11 while he and other officers executed a search warrant, according to Officer Down Memorial Page.

The suspect was wanted for shooting his wife during a domestic violence incident earlier in the night. The injured woman was able to walk to a neighbor’s house and call police.

Responding officers secured the suspect’s house and obtained a search warrant to take him into custody.

As officers with the Cameron Police Department and several neighboring agencies attempted to serve the warrant, the man opened fire, hitting and fatally wounding Clouse. ODMP reports other officers on scene returned fire and killed the suspect.

Clouse, a U.S. Army veteran, is survived by his wife and two children.
