Texas K-9 fatally shot on duty, manhunt for killer underway

The K-9 was deployed and on top of the suspect when the suspect opened fire

LINDALE, Texas — Authorities are searching for a suspect who fatally shot a K-9, MyEastTex reported.

The K-9 was shot and killed after a deputy got into a wrestling match with a driver during a traffic stop on Tuesday. The K-9 was deployed and on top of the suspect when the suspect shot the police dog several times.

K-9 Officer Ogar was certified in narcotics, search and rescue, and attack. He had just received a ballistic vest Monday.

Two suspects were apprehended but another is on the loose. Police are searching for the suspected shooter, 35-year-old Michael Paul Koch. He is considered armed and dangerous.
