IACP 2012 video interview: Nixle

Nixle enables law enforcement to connect with citizen subscribers in the way those individual users choose to be contacted

Editor’s Note: Many thanks to our friends at TASER International for equipping me with the TASER AXON Flex body-worn video camera and Evidence.com digital evidence management solution for secure video storage and retrieval.

During IACP 2012 in San Diego, I connected briefly with some of the folks from Nixle, a company that has rapidly become one of the leaders in delivering alert notifications from police agencies to the citizens they serve.

Nixle is free for law enforcement agencies and enables law enforcement to connect with citizen subscribers in the way those individual users choose to be contacted — via SMS texts, a native mobile application, e-mail, and internet social networks (or any combination thereof).

On duty at the booth was Travis Scott, who talked with me about some of the ways in which this technology can be used, as well as some of the basic benefits of the technology for police and citizens.
