Video: NY police take down armed felon after shooting

The police heard a gunshot and saw people running away when they ran towards the source

NEW YORK — New York police released surveillance video in the arrest of an armed shooting suspect, New York Daily News reported.

Officers Harry Delacruz and Cesar Gomez were on patrol when they heard a gunshot ring out and saw people running away from the source of the noise. As they approached, they witnessed 31-year-old Edward Chatman fire another round.

Officers followed Chatman, identified themselves and commanded him to surrender. Surveillance footage captured the incident and arrest of Chatman, who immediately tossed his weapon to the ground and held up his hands.

Police recovered a loaded .357-caliber Ruger stainless steel revolver from the scene.

Chatman, who has a lengthy criminal record, was charged on felony weapon possession and reckless endangerment.
