SAN DIEGO — A federal agent was injured and a suspect was shot in the torso after a series of bizarre events that started when the suspect approached the marshal, ranting about law enforcement.
The Marshal had been loading gear into his unmarked SUV at the time, and got into his vehicle after the man started yelling, according to NBC7.
The man then rammed the SUV with his own vehicle multiple times.
“The suspect backed away after the first ramming of the vehicle and drove a second time into the driver’s side door where the U.S. Marshal was seated,” SDPD Capt. Terry McManus said.
The Marshal crawled to the passenger side door and got out of his vehicle, and fired shots at the subject once his hands were out of view, according to the article.
Cell phone video taken by a bystander captured the moments after the gunfire.
The suspect suffered a shot to the torso and is expected to survive his injuries. The deputy U.S. Marshal was also treated for minor injuries.
