SANFORD, Fla — A man who was held at gunpoint and then TASERed during a traffic stop is filing a civil lawsuit against the Seminol County Sheriff’s Department, claiming the officers violated his civil rights, according to WFTV.
Deputies Erik Ducharme and Chris Clutter were fired after dash cam footage was reviewed, which showed the officers pulling over Robert Wilds because they thought he wasn’t wearing a seat belt. The video shows the officers approaching Wilds’ vehicle with guns drawn, and then removing him from it.
Clutter takes a shotgun from his trunk, and TASERs Wilds with the weapon still in-hand.
Wilds said he believes he might have been a target for officers because he served time for armed robbery.
Ducharme and Clutter are petitioning to get their jobs back.
