NOCONA, Texas — An off-duty deputy was shot and killed Monday after an officer responded to a domestic disturbance call.

According to WFAA, the unidentified officer arrived at 41-year-old Deputy Larry Bryan Hostetter’s home around midnight.

The deputy, who may have been suicidal, reportedly pulled a gun on the officer before shots were fired and Hostetter was killed.

Police officials have released no detail of the nature of the disturbance call, and there are conflicting reports on who pulled the trigger in the incident.

The officer who responded was uninjured and placed on administrative leave, per department policy. Police are currently investigating the shooting.

“It’s never any fun to go through any kind of incident, at all, like this, but we do have a strong community here in Nocona. Lots and lots of support,” Nocona Police Chief Kent Holcomb told WFAA.

Hostetter had served as a police officer since 2000. The incident is reportedly the first officer-involved shooting in the town of Nocona in 15 years.
