LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — A natural resources ranger was found dead early Friday morning in a northwestern Colorado reservoir, according to The Denver Post.
The man was identified as 27-year-old Brendan Unitt by the Officer Down Memorial Page. It is believed Unitt was thrown from his patrol boat during strong wind gusts while searching for a missing boater Thursday night.
Other boaters called authorities when they saw Unitt’s boat adrift on Horsetooth Reservoir, according to the Memorial Page.
In a news release obtained by the Denver Post, Larimer County deputies said at least nine different agencies were called in to search. Unitt’s body was found a few hours later around 3:30 a.m. Friday.
He had served with the Larimer County Department of Natural Resources for six months.
