RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. — A Ridgefield police officer was dragged by a motorist who then led a chase through Palisades Park tonight that ended when he totaled a police car and was tackled trying to run.
One officer was believed to have suffered a broken arm and another possibly a broken nose.
Ridgefield police had the driver’s mini-van stopped at a checkpoint on the Grand Avenue exit ramp from eastbound Route 46 when the incident began. Without warning, the driver hit the gas, dragging the officer at least 75 feet, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the incident told Cliff View Pilot.
