SULPHUR, Okla. — A Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and a Sulphur police officer were shot during a five-hour standoff Monday.
The Oklahoman reports officers responded to the scene Monday afternoon where an armed woman was holed up in a business, reportedly distraught over a relationship.
After several hours, Officer Jason Conyer and Trooper Tracey Laxton entered the store and were shot by the suspect, 45-year-old Lisa Schaapveld.
Both officers returned fire, striking Schaapveld multiple times.
KFOR reported the officer suffered a leg wound and the trooper was shot in the lower back.
The officers were transported to a hospital and later released. Schaapveld was also hospitalized and is currently in critical condition, according to the report.
