WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The other two officers wounded in a domestic call that killed their colleague on her first day are responding well to treatment, according to NBC Washington.

Officers David McKeown, 33, and Jesse Hempen, 31, were shot Feb. 26 during a domestic call that killed 28-year-old Ashley Guindon during her first day of work on the force.

The wife of gunman Ronald Hamilton was found dead in the residence after calling 911 during an altercation with her husband. Police believe the woman, 29-year-old Crystal Hamilton, was killed before officers arrived.

Hamilton shot at the three officers as they arrived at the residence.

Guidon died in the shooting while McKeown and Hempen were rushed to a hospital.

“Families have asked for privacy but are appreciative of the support,” the department tweeted Friday morning.

Chief Steve Hudson said to the news site both officers have a long road ahead in their recovery.
