Milwaukee cops expected to survive shooting

Associated Press

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police say the two officers shot multiple times by a bicyclist are expected to survive.

Police Chief Edward Flynn said the officers stopped the bicyclist Tuesday afternoon because he looked suspicious, and he shot them both before they had time to react.

Flynn says the man was arrested within an hour and his gun was recovered. He says the man has a previous arrest record.

Flynn says 26-year-old officer Graham Kunisch (KOO'-nish) is in critical condition, and 21-year-old Bryan Norberg is in satisfactory condition. Kunisch has been on the police force for 15 months and Norberg for six months.

The police chief lauded a cab driver who came to the officers’ aid and a UPS driver who tried to follow the suspect.
