NEWTON, Kan. — A surveillance video shows an attack on the Newton Law Enforcement Center by a man who yelled profanities, threw bricks through windows and demanded that police shoot him, The Wichita Eagle reported.

Brent Allen Smith, 26, was arrested after the incident on Aug. 18 when an officer subdued him with a TASER.

Throughout the video, Smith can be heard screaming at officers to shoot him.

Newton police Lt. Bryan Hall told the publication the incident really had nothing to do with police.

“He really has nothing against the Newton Police Department or the Harvey County sheriff,” Hall said in an interview with the paper. “He has been dealing with a lot of stress lately.”

Smith was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, battery of a law enforcement officer, four counts of attempted criminal damage to property, one count of criminal damage to property and one count of disorderly conduct.

Police suspect alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident, but it is still under investigation.
