COLLEGE PARK, Md. — According to the Associated Press, a Prince George County police officer has been suspended after a video emerged showing him along with two other officers beating a University of Maryland student.
The two other officers will also be suspended as soon as they are identified, Police Chief Roberto Hylton told the media.
Associated Press reports that attorney Christopher Griffiths released video of the March 3 incident after his client, 21-year-old John McKenna, claims police used unnecessary force on him during a basketball victory celebration.
According to reports, McKenna was one of 28 students arrested that night.
CBS News reports that Chief Hylton saw the video was “was outraged” by it. McKenna suffered a concussion after the beating, and is suing the department.
Police are investigating the charges.
