BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police released dash camera footage from an April 2015 pursuit where the suspect crashed and rolled his vehicle, was ejected into the air and still managed to run away on foot, KTVB reported.

The incident began when a Boise officer attempted to pull over 33-year-old Jose Manuel Sanchez. Sanchez stopped briefly before ramming his vehicle into the officer’s cruiser, pinning the cop’s leg in the door.

The officer called in backup and a pursuit ensued on the highway. Troopers tailed Sanchez until he lost control of his pickup.

The vehicle ran into the median, almost hitting oncoming traffic before it flew back onto the right shoulder. The truck rolled and Sanchez was launched into the air.

After the dust settled, Sanchez tried to flee on foot while Trooper Kenny Walker followed with his firearm drawn.

Two passerbys pulled over and helped the officers detain Sanchez, Idaho Statesman reported. Jason and Dorothy Henley were travelling on the roadway when they saw Sanchez’s truck fly by. They stopped when they saw the trooper struggling with Sanchez in the median after he tried to flee on foot.

Henley and another motorist, Jose Medrano-Lopez, held down Sanchez while Walker handcuffed him.

Sanchez was charged with three felonies including battery of an officer, fleeing police and possession of methamphetamine. He pled guilty in December and is serving a 15-year sentence.
