UPPER FREEHOLD TWP., N.J. — Dash cam video captured a close call for two New Jersey troopers and a driver after a speeding Jeep sideswiped their cars during a traffic stop.
NBC Philadelphia reports the two troopers stopped a driver October 11 for a minor traffic violation on the I-95 highway when the incident occurred.
As the pair of troopers spoke with the driver from the passenger side, a speeder struck their police cruiser and the stopped driver’s vehicle.
No one was hurt in the incident.
“It was a very close call,” NJ State Police Sergeant Jeff Flynn told NBC Philadelphia. “If the trooper was getting out of his vehicle and that vehicle had struck at that time, it would have been a tragedy.”
The troopers were unable to pursue the vehicle because the collision flattened one of the tires on the cruiser. Police are currently trying to locate the driver.
