SANTEE, S.C. — Dash cam video released Wednesday by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety captures state troopers as they rescue a kidnapping victim trapped in the trunk of a car.
According to WLTX, police had been searching for the vehicle following reports of it being involved in a kidnapping in Virginia.
The video shows state troopers approaching the car, guns drawn, at a rest stop.
The driver, 20-year-old Regelio Lopez, is the son of the woman found in the trunk.
Lopez is currently being held in the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center in South Carolina, charged with kidnapping. The mother has since returned to Virginia, according to the report.
