AR-15/M-16 quick deployment

Many officers use a collapsible stock AR-15 or M-16 as a patrol rifle. It is important to have a consistent eye relief and stock weld to make accurate shots with the patrol rifle. If the rifle is carried with the stock in the collapsed position and the officer normally shoots the rifle from one of the intermediate stock positions, it can be time consuming to locate the desired position, especially under intense stress.

Consider limiting the lockout of the stock only to the desired extended position.

First, determine the desired stock position and count either from the collapsed position to that position or from the fully extended position to that position.

Next, remove the outer portion of the collapsible stock. Fill all the detent holes except for the desired lockout hole with a high strength epoxy such as JB-weld. Reassemble after the epoxy has set. The spring tension on the stock lockout will keep the stock in the collapsed position while in the rack or in storage.

To extend the stock for deployment, simply pull the stock to the rear (no fumbling with the release required) and it will lockout in the first hole that was not filled with epoxy. If you accidentally bypass the lockout point, simply push the stock back forward.
