PRESS RELEASE

ATLANTA — Magnet Forensics, a global leader in digital investigations solutions, today announced the acquisition of Dark Circuit Labs, a U.S.-based company specializing in advanced vulnerability research and exploit development. In addition to strengthening its research capabilities, the acquisition also further expands on Magnet Forensics’ ability to support federal projects through Dark Circuit Labs’ U.S. facility clearance.

Dark Circuit Labs provides tools for the United States’ cyber arsenal and offensive operations, promoting a wide range of options for national security, including understanding of target functionality and interoperability, novel obfuscation techniques, and vulnerability research — skills that will enhance Magnet Forensics’ growing vulnerability research team. Their work plays a critical role in enabling insights into modern digital devices and those capabilities directly align with Magnet Forensics’ mission to help law enforcement and federal agencies by providing digital forensics teams with an investigative edge.

“Our federal customers are up against some of the biggest threats facing the country and we’re committed to having the best digital investigation solutions possible when they need it,” says Braden Thomas, Chief Product & Research Officer at Magnet Forensics. “With the acquisition of Dark Circuit Labs, we’re not only adding exceptional talent into our vulnerability research team, but knowledge that’s tailored to the needs of U.S. federal customers.”

The acquisition significantly expands Magnet Forensics’ support for U.S. federal customers, including the addition of a facility clearance, enabling Dark Circuit Labs to work directly with federal agencies. This positions Magnet Forensics to further support the complex and evolving needs of the U.S. government and bolsters its ability to support national security missions.

“We’re thrilled to be joining such an innovative and mission-driven company as Magnet Forensics,” said Chase Bertke, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dark Circuit Labs. “We share a common vision – leveraging leading-edge research to empower those who protect and serve. Together, we can accelerate our impact and bring even more powerful solutions to our partners in the field.”

The acquisition of Dark Circuit Labs is yet another indicator of Magnet Forensics’ proud and unwavering commitment to federal customers— a commitment that also includes the pursuit of FedRAMP authorization, which will allow Magnet Forensics solutions to process unclassified federal information. It also demonstrates Magnet Forensics’ continued expansion and investment in research excellence — ensuring that those performing digital investigations have the most advanced solutions available to protect individuals and the communities they live in.
