NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Video has surfaced showing an allegedly unnecessary strip search on a woman arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

In the video, provided by WHAS11, Tabitha Gentry is shown in custody at the Floyd County Jail. No audio is present in the video, but Gentry says something to the officers nearby and attempts to stand. This is when she is subdued.

Footage continues, showing a male and female officer taking Gentry into a cell. Gentry is handcuffed and held down, and then she is stripped.

Video shows that Gentry sat nude in the jail from 4:14 a.m. until 10:58 a.m. Gentry claims she was also pepper sprayed.

“I was embarrassed, humiliated and scared,” Gentry said of the event. “That’s all that goes through your mind when stuff happens like that.”

According to The News and Tribune, Floyd County Sheriff Darrell Mills said proper procedure was taken to prevent Gentry from harming herself.

Her attorney called it a ‘form of submission through humiliation.’ She plans to represent Gentry in a federal lawsuit against the county.
